Project Focus
Receipt of Existing is a social practice project documenting the real costs of accessing healthcare in Portland. Inspired by the organizer’s own experience of being forced into double insurance just to keep a therapist, the project gathers anonymous “receipts” is short, printed fragments of people’s struggles, expenses, denials, and small victories within the healthcare system. Each receipt becomes a portable record of what it takes simply to survive, shared hand-to-hand as a way to make these hidden burdens visible. Anyone can contribute, continue, or expand this project; it belongs to the community it documents.
